The Huck is Back

No, I'm not referring to his oh-so-funny joke about pointing a gun at Barack Obama. The really interesting Mike Huckabee news this week is this report by Newsmax (not always the most credible news source, but still interesting) that Huckabee is at the top of John McCain's vice president list. Huckabee, you will recall, wants to introduce a national sales tax and "amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards." Be afraid, libertarians. Be very afraid.

Mike Huckabee is a buffoon; a fake "conservative" Trojan horse who's candidacy was intended to corral Southern voters (modern Southerners are probably the least rebellious of all voters these days, but old memories of Southern populist electoral rebellions die hard).

Since Huckabee essentially served his role as a Southern primary place-holder, to make sure no authentic, populist/paleo-con/libertarian right-wing opposition to the McCain candidacy could get any oxygen in the Land of Dixie, it wouldn't surprise me at all if McCain were to reward his doofus of an errand boy with the Veep spot.

Fred Thompson played a similar role; make sure not enough conservatives could rally around Mitt Romney (or Ron Paul, for that matter), in order for him to be able to stop McCain from further ruining the GOP (as if George W. Bush weren't bad enough).

I'm no great fan of Mitt Romney, by the way, in fact I used to hate the guy, but in retrospect, he's practically Christ-like compared that vile, demented, senile degenerate from Arizona. The same could be said for Obama (or Bob Barr, Chuck Balwin, or Ralph Nader), as far as that goes.

ANYONE BUT MCCAIN!!!
