Here's an interview of everyone's favorite vice presidential candidate opining on Ron Paul ("I think he's a little weak when it comes to the War on Terror") and France ("I usually hate France"). (via Lew Rockwell)
And please check out this great Las Vegas Sun profile, in which Root shares his opinions on kids who are bullied ("You get bullied day and night if you’re weak.” - I am not taking this out of context. Root really does appear to look down on kids who are bullied), takes a seemingly un-libertarian position on campaign contributions (calling them "bribes"), insinuates that Barack Obama did not graduate from college (there are records confirming that he did) and insults New Orleans hurricane victims for good measure (“Their mouths were open and their hands were out and they were praying for Mama Bird to throw something in there.”)
I'm not saying that Root isn't a libertarian. But I am saying that from everything I've seen, heard and read of him, he's a grade-A asshole.
I'm voting for Bob Barr for President, and thus by extension, I am also voting for Wayne Allen Root for Vice-President, but I freely admit that Mr. Root is an embarrassment to the Libertarian Party.
ReplyDeleteI wish Bob Barr had chosen Mike Gravel to be his running-mate. But I suppose a ticket consisting of one of the more right-wing Libertarians, combined with the single most left-wing Libertarian, was probably never a realistic option, alas.
Bob Barr is a pompous used-car salesman. I was already leaning away from Barr, whose record in Congress is so far from my idea of libertarianism it seems like a bad joke, but once he picked WAR, that's when I knew that the Libertarian Party had sold out to get an extra percentage point in the next election.
ReplyDeleteMeant to say Wayne Allyn Root is a pompous used-car salesman...
ReplyDeleteYou're assuming that WAR could even get an additional 1% for the libertarians, anon. If we do any better this year than in the past it will be because of Bob Barr and Bob Barr alone. In fact, you should probably assume that Barr would have gotten about 1% more then he gets in November if he wasn't saddled with this moron on the ticket with him.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, Mr. Root won't be able to parlay his Veep nomination into the 2012 LP Presidential nomination. My guess is he won't.

ReplyDeleteWayne Allan Root is a smug, snobby asshole!
