We've had a good run: nine months, dozens of inbound links, over 100 posts, over 10,000 unique visitors and a mention in The Economist. But it's almost time for me to pack up this blog and move on. I'll leave it up for another week or so, in case anyone has any parting comments/questions/attacks. Consider this an open thread.
Once again, congratulations President-Elect Barack Obama. I look forward to both supporting and opposing you over the next four years.

I'd leave the blog up, even if its just ignored from here on out. If for no other reason than as a record of the libertarian case for Obama in the 2008 campaign.
In about a year, I doubt very seriously if you would want to see a "record of the libertarian case for Obama in the 2008 campaign."
It will be very embarrassing for those "libertarians" who supported Obama after he turns out to be just another big government liberal who wants to "spread the wealth around."
In the end, I couldn't quite pull the lever for Obama, although I do think he was a better choice for America than McCain at this time.
I enjoyed the thoughtful analysis on this blog.
I guess Mark has gone into hiding, but I would love to know what is libertarian about Obama's stimulus package?
I just came across this site. Any "Libertarians for Obama" left, after his administration:
(a) hasn't really changed course from the Bush civil liberties/anti-terrorism policies -- and when it has, it has included loopholes you could drive a truck through;
(b) has just released a budget proposing some of the most massive government intervention in the private sector in decades;
(c) is financing that government intervention with concrete tax increases (supposedly "paid for" with fuzzy promises of rooting out wasteful spending); and
(d) just stated that it will seek to reimpose the assault weapons ban that expired several years ago.
What's libertarian about any of this?
And are you really surprised by any of this?
You ought to be ashamed to call yourselves Libertarians. Look at what the Obama administration is doing to our country.. turning it into a communism slowly but surely. I am no Sean Hannity fan, but he looks like Heidi Klum compared to Geithner (sp? who cares). Look into your principles again before your voice your opinion. You should also read "Somebody's Gotta Say It," by Neal Boortz.
Pathetic.
I don't understand how any "libertarian" could possibly support Obama. You have to have a certain amount of intelligence to support the libertarian position because it requires you to see through the "good intentions" of liberal and conservative policies. It required very little foresight to see that Obama was an obvious statist. If you claim to be a libertarian and voted for this guy I hope you enjoy watching your freedom slip away.
I bet you feel like a fool now.
You need to say if you still support Obama, after his new proposals. I suspect if you did, you'd be out here defending Obama.
Are you embarrassed yet?
I'm not a big fan of John McCain's politics, but Obama has fundamental problems with the idea of economic freedom. Even the most gullible should see that now.
I'm posting this blog post as a reminder for the next time libertarians start thinking "you know, voting for the most liberal member of the Senate is starting to make a lot of sense!
For a daily libertarian critic of the decidedly un-libertarian Barack Hussein Obama, visit Libertarian Republican blog at

We were the first among libertarians to oppose Obama.
Wow. I can't think of any way to be more wrong. Obama makes Bush look like Jefferson.
Jesus Christ,
I know there are different types of libertarians, some of them still deluded enough to think voting makes a difference.
But just how god-awfully deluded would you have to be - in the first place - to vote for a candidate in the two party oligarchy?
How can a "libertarian" call himself such when he votes for a guy who even before winning should have been obvious was hanging around the vilest of people?
What is your major malfunction?
What is it with this deliberate self-deceit by some libertarians?
You'd think that one became a libertarian because he wised up about the nature of politics.
I can only hope the people behind this blog are now a bit wiser, and have finally given up all hope on voting. Because if this didn't make them learn a lesson, nothing will.
I hope the owner of this blog has come to his senses. Interesting article in the L.A. Times:
"Obama: A disaster for civil liberties
He may prove the most disastrous president in our history in terms of civil liberties"
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-turley-civil-liberties-20110929,0,7542436.story
I promise I get no satisfaction from saying I told you so. Still perplexed at how you could have been so misguided back in 2008.
Obama huh...
How'd that work out for ya'?
Great blog! Too bad I found it four years too late. Anything going for Obama's re-election?
Worst libertarian ever. You must be a liberal hiding behind the misnomer. No liberty minded individual would ever support Obama.
Admin, how long have you been kicking yourself, now?
Hahahahahaha!
